The 1984 anti-Sikh riots Violence , was a series of organised communal riots Violence against Sikhs in India in response Response to the assassination Killing of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards .

Four months after the operation Military_operation , on 31 October 1984 , Indira Gandhi was assassinated Killing in vengeance by her two Sikh bodyguards , Satwant Singh and Beant Singh .

The couple did not have bodyguards at the time .
